Abstract

This study investigated the removal of the Pb (II) ion from an aqueous solution using kola nut pod as a natural adsorbent. The batch adsorption experiment was carried out, and the parametric effect on removal of heavy metals was also investigated. kinetic data such as pseudo-first, second, and intraparticle diffusion models during the adsorption process were also evaluated. The optimum dose of adsorbent for Pb (II) removal was 2.5 g with a removal efficiency of 99.11% at an equilibrium contact time of 30 minutes. It was discovered that the adsorption kinetic of Pb (II) on kola nut pods followed the pseudo-second order reaction.
