Abstract

The present paper highlights the participation of the II-VI group elements which have properties of a semiconductor used as quantum dots which are also considered “Artificial Atom”. There had been exponential progress in the field of nanoscience and technology utilizing the commonly exploited Zinc selenide (ZnSe), Cadmium selenide (CdTe), Cadmium telluride (CdTe) and Zinc oxide (ZnO) and many more. These elements are geometric-sized in the form of micro and nanoparticles quantum dots to be formulated as a material precursor. This review describes about quantum dots synthesized from semiconductor materials in view of optical applications.
