Cost reduction coupled with reduced downtime is the need of the hour in all the industries today. Self-healing materials have emerged as a promising solution to overcome the above issue. Various approaches involved in the synthesis of conventional self-healing materials have been summarized. An attempt is made to discuss the advanced technologies in the preparation of newer self-healing materials and they are also noted down.
