The synthesis of carbon nanotubes was carried out by CVD using electric Bunsen burner as the electrical source, at low temperature over cobalt nitrate supported on MgO using ethanol as the carbon source. The morphology, quality and degree of graphitization were analyzed by SEM, TEM and Raman spectroscopy. The TGA analysis with mild acid treatment revealed the burn off temperature of carbon nanotube to be at 392 to 695oC. The electronic structures of CNTs were studied with UV-Vis-NIR spectroscopy and the excitonic coefficient of the metallic carbon nanotube was found to be higher than the semiconducting carbon nanotube. Electrical characterization of CNTs film at room temperature was evaluated. I-V characterization of the film found the ohmic behaviour and resistance of the CNTs film to be 1711 Ω.
