Development of Mathematical Model to Predict Annual Runoff in Port Harcourt City, Rivers State, Nigeria

  1. F.E. Ezeilo

Abstract

This paper is aimed at monitoring and predicting annual runoff of Port Harcourt city for a classified area type and flat land of 0–5% slope. Mathematical models were developed to monitor and simulate annual runoff of an area type of 30% impervious (paved), 50% impervious (paved) and 70% impervious (paved) within the Port Harcourt city. The analysis of annual rainfall and annual runoff data gives a coefficient of determination of  for 30% impervious,  for 50% impervious and  for 70% impervious which indicates good fit. The model developed can be used in simulating annual runoff for the study area.
