A Critical Review on Measuring Accessibility of Multimodal Transport Systems in Indian Cities
Abstract: Measuring accessibility is crucial for evaluating the performance of multimodal transport systems in Indian cities. This review paper examines the methodologies, indicators, and applications of accessibility measurement in the context of developing countries, focusing on Indian urban areas. The paper discusses the challenges posed by data limitations, informal transport modes, and socioeconomic disparities, and highlights the need for adapting accessibility measures to the Indian context. Case studies from major Indian …

Applications of Carbon Dioxide Emissions Calculations in the Operation of Public Passenger Transport Systems
Abstract: This paper aims to analyze emissions from public passenger transport systems, metros and buses, compared with private cars, establishing calculating these emissions. The calculations were applied in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The results obtained indicate that the electric trains of the system had an average emission of 4.5 g of carbon dioxide (CO2) per passenger-kilometer, a result 10 times lower than the emission of buses, which in …

Detecting the Failure Stages in Asphalt Concrete Through the Fatigue Life
Abstract: The signs of failure initiation in asphalt concrete through its service life may appear as cracking, rutting, or other types of distress after practicing dynamic stresses from vehicular loading. This work is concerned with detecting the failure initiation in asphalt concrete in the laboratory, and the role of binder content and constant strain level through a comprehensive testing program. Asphalt concrete mixtures were formulated with the optimal binder content, as …

Analysis for Pier of Railway Bridge
Abstract: The load-bearing capacity of a pier is determined by the combined effects of the load from the train and the self-weight of the girder it supports. The bending of the pier is influenced by its height, which necessitates a careful assessment of the pier's thickness across various girder spans and pier heights. This evaluation ensures that the pier can withstand the imposed loads while adhering to permissible deflection limits. By …
