Implementation of Optical XOR Gate and Gray to Binary Code Converter Using Mach-Zehnder Interferometer
Abstract: AbstractWith the progress in optical communication system, optical networks are demanding of all optical devices to improve the speed, power and to reduce the attenuation during transmission of signals. In this paper, execution of gray to binary code converter with the aid of semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) based Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI) is proposed, with the help of all-optical XOR logic gate, which is also demonstrated by using SOA-MZI, where CW …

Passive Capillary Flow of Aqueous Microparticle Suspensions in the Sudden Expansion PMMA Microchannels
Abstract: AbstractAuthor has fabricated a set of sudden expansions micro channels in the polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) microfluidic devices by the maskless lithography, hot embossing lithography, drilling, air dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma processing, direct bonding technique and chip separation technique. The surface-driven capillary flow of dyed water and three individual aqueous microparticle suspensions are studied with respect to the effects of channel aspect ratio, effective viscosity and surface wettability. The number densities …

Surface-Driven Capillary Flow of Aqueous Microparticle Suspensions as Working Liquids in the PMMA Microfluidic Devices
Abstract: AbstractPolymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) microfluidic devices have been fabricated by the maskless lithography, hot embossing lithography, drilling and direct bonding technique. The influence of effective viscosity on the speed of surface-driven capillary flow of aqueous microparticle suspensions has been studied. The surface-driven capillary flow of any particular aqueous microparticle suspension is faster in the microchannel of larger channel aspect ratio. Also, the surface-driven suspension flow is faster on the surface of higher …

Performance of NRZ and Manchester DPSK Downstream and Upstream OOK for WDM-PON
Abstract: AbstractA novel data re-modulation scheme with downstream. Differential phase shift keying (DPSK) signals and on-off keying (OOK) upstream signal modulation format is proposed for wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) – passive optical networks (PON) in the letter. A simulation on 5-Gb/s downstream optical DPSK signal and 5 Gb/s upstream optical OOK signal. 5Gb/S on DPSK OOK all are successfully demonstrated over 20-km single mode fiber without chromatic dispersion compensation. Keywords: Differential phase-shift keying …
