Design and Analysis of Common Injection Mould for Variable Length of Extended Prob Housing Component
Abstract: The present study focused on designing a common injection mould for variable length of component of nylon material for prob housing plastic part and die material as H13. It was operated on 210 t vertical injection moulding machine. The type of cooling system employed wasline cooling. The effect of cooling system location on the stresses produced in the mould was analyzed and component defects determined by mould flow simulation. Injection …

Evaluation of Crystallinity in Talc/Poly-styrene Composites by using FTIR and XRD
Abstract: Over the decade, polymers have found their usage in almost all types of industries ranging from food and beverage packaging to automobile industries. Though the polymers are considered highly inert and chemically stable, their performance under mechanical loading is not at par with their metallic counterparts. Thus, polymer composites have started gaining popularity over the years, but their properties are poorly understood. In this study, the effect of talc addition …

Experimental Investigation of Overall Heat Transfer Coefficientin Drop wise Condensation
Abstract: The experiments are performed to study the heat transfer characteristics over a drop wise condensation. The phenomenon of drop wise condensation is in which the condensate forms into drops rather than covering the entire cooling surface with a continuous film. In drop wise condensation, heat transfer coefficient produced is 2 to 10 times greater than those produced by film wise condensation. Hence drop wise condensation is desirable as it is …

Fatigue Failure Analysis of a Railway Wheel Using FEA
Abstract: In a railway transportation system, the railway wheel is the hardest and most critical component. Technological developments in the manufacturing of railway wheels in industries have made it possible to significantly extend the fatigue life of wheels. The manufacturing industries perform three tasks: aiding in train movement, supporting the carloads and also acts brake drum in the vehicle. The serious problems in railway engineering are fatigue design of a wheel …

Utilizing Machine Learning to Predict the Dimensional Variation of Shafts Printed using Fused Deposition Modeling
Abstract: With the onset of the fourth industrial paradigm, additive manufacturing techniques are coming to the forefront in mechanical engineering domain. The technological burgeoning of additive manufacturing, particularly 3-D printing, has observed substantial growth in rapid prototyping, functional part manufacturing, and tooling because it has significantly reduced the manufacturing costs and processing time. One of the most commonly used techniques of additive manufacturing is Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM), examining and controlling …
