Computer Simulations on Magnetic Particles Capturing in an Implant Assisted Channel for Targeted Drug Delivery
Abstract: In this paper, we studied the effect of magnetic field, inlet velocity and particle size on capture efficiency of magnetic particles transported in an implant assisted uniform channel through computational simulations. The dominant magnetic and drag forces are included in the simulations. The couple nonlinear Navier-Stokes equation for fluid flow and Newton’s second law equation for particle transport are solved using finite element based COMSOL multiphysics software. It is found …

A Novel Liquid Crystal Drug Delivery for Transdermal Application
Abstract: The present study was aimed at the formulation of liquid crystals of acyclovir that will be incorporated into a transdermal patch. Liquid crystals serve as drug carrier and have a good penetration-enhancer property, due to the extensive similarity of these colloidal systems with the intercellular lipids in the stratum corneum. The liquid crystals were prepared using tween 80 as emulsifier, cetosteryl alcohol as emulsion stabilizer and double-distilled water. Liquid crystals …

Microsponges: A Novel Approach for Transdermal Delivery of Tolnaftate
Abstract: The present study was aimed at preparing tolnaftate-loaded microsponges and incorporating them into a topical formulation. Microsponge delivery system was chosen as it can increase the concentration of the drug on the superficial layer of the skin. Microsponges were prepared by quasi-emulsion technique. The studies like drug entrapment efficiency showed that the drug was completely entrapped within the pores of the microsponges. The microsponges were incorporated into the optimized carbopol …
