Adverse Drug Reaction Associated with Vitamins: An Analysis of Spontaneous Reports from Pharmacovigilance Programme of India Database
Abstract: The objective of this study was to describe adverse events with the use vitamins and to identify risk factors. A retrospective study was carried out from the spontaneous adverse drug reaction (ADR) reports for the period April 2011 to March 2013 by National Coordination Centre, Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (PvPI). 29 reports of vitamins were received by NCC-PvPI, which comprised approximately 0.064% of the total 45,297 reports received at NCC-PvPI. …

Comparative Aphrodisiac Activity of Formulated Tablet of Bombax Ceiba Linn. Extract with Sildenafil Citrate Tablet in Male Mice
Abstract: The present work deals with pharmacological studies of formulated tablet of Bombax ceiba Linn root extract comparing with marketed one. An aphrodisiac activity by mating behavior test model was investigated. The dissolved tablet slurry (400 mg/kg body wt./day) was administered orally by gavages for 28 days. Mount latency (ML), intromission latency (IL), ejaculation latency (EL), mounting frequency (MF), intromission frequency (IF), ejaculation frequency (EF) and post-ejaculatory interval (PEI) are the …

Therapeutic Drug Monitoring (TDM): An Aspect of Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacy Practice
Abstract: AbstractTherapeutic drug monitoring or TDM is the clinical pharmacology of measuring specific drugs at designated intervals to uphold a constant level of drug in a patient’s blood circulation, thereby optimizing individual dosage regimens. TDM becomes necessary only for the categories of drug with narrow therapeutic ranges, drugs with marked pharmacokinetic variability, medications for which target concentrations are difficult to monitor, and drugs known to cause therapeutic and adverse effects. On …

Impact of Amiloride-Hydrochlorthiazide Diuretic Against the Pathway of Uric Acid – VLDL and Peroxynitrite in Essential Hypertension
Abstract: Thiazides induce metabolic derangement in terms of hyperlipidemia, glucose intolerance, hyperuricemia and electrolytes imbalance. Co-amiloride-hydrochlorthiazide therapy favorably corrects the hypokalemia that is induced by thiazides alone. This study was aimed to identify the interactions between serum uric acid, very-low-density-lipoprotein (VLDL) and peroxynitrite in essential hypertensive patients using amiloride-hydrochlorthiazide as antihypertensive therapy. A total number of fifty patients (12 males and 38 females) with a history of hypertension were admitted in …
