Effects of Reading Task With or Without Verbalization on Heart Rate Variability
Abstract: In the present work, effect of different reading passages with or without verbalization on heart rate variability has been assessed. The study was conducted on 13 subjects with age group 18–25 years and no medical history. The lead-II electrocardiogram was recorded using MP35 amplifier (Biopac Inc, USA) while subject was in sitting position. The paradigm for recording was designed using Superlab 4.5. The paradigm includes reading four different passages: (i) …

A Rare Case Report on Familial Dysautonomia (Familial Dysautonomia)
Abstract: Familial dysautonomia (FD) is a genetic disorder of neurodevelopment within classification of both hereditary sensory and autonomic neuropathies, each caused by a different genetic error. IKBKAP gene is responsible for the genetic error in FD. The maintenance and development of neurons occur because there is neuropathological and clinical progression. Pathological alterations consist of decreased unmyelinated and small-fiber neurons. The clinical features reflect involvement of both sensory and autonomic neurons. Sensory …

Effect of Beta Asarone–The Active Principle of Acorus Calamus in Neuroprotection and Nerve Cell Regeneration on the Pyramidal Region of Hippocampus in Mesial Temporal Lobe Epileptic Rat Models
Abstract: Epilepsy is a common chronic neurological disorder with seizures. About 1% of people worldwide (65 million) have epilepsy and nearly 80% of cases occur in developing countries [1]. MTLE is the major form of focal epilepsy associated with hippocampal atrophy or sclerosis. For this study we produced a model of mesial temporal epilepsy sterotaxically by inducing kainic acid into the right hippocampus. For this study animals were divided into seven …

Ventricular Arrhythmia Detection Techniques for ECG Signal: A Survey Approach
Abstract: Electrocardiogram (ECG) represents the electrical activity of the heart and is used to measure the rate and regularity of heartbeats. In this paper we propose a method for an Independent Component Analysis (ICA) based detection and classification of the ventricular arrhythmia. The malignant ventricular arrhythmia database from www.physionet.org/physiobank/database/vfdb has been utilized for evaluating the algorithm over MATLAB interface. This scheme assimilates ICA and probabilistic neural network for classifying critical arrhythmia …

Caregivers’ Perception And Opinion About DMD Children With Neuro Rehab Services
Abstract: Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is the most common X-linked recessive disease. DMD is caused by the absence of dystrophin protein that helps to keep muscle cells intact. The onset symptoms occur during early wardhood, about 2–6 years of age. The clinical manifestations of DMD are generalized weakness followed by muscle wasting first affecting the muscles of the hips, pelvic region, thighs and shoulders girdle. The diagnosis of muscle biopsy shows …
