Effect of Leaf or Bud Extract of Euphorbia hirta L. using Different Solvents against Human Pathogenic Bacteria Staphylococcus aureus
Abstract: AbstractAntibacterial effects of leaf or bud extract of selected medicinal herb Euphorbia hirta L. were examined using agar disc diffusion method against test bacteria Staphylococcus aureus. Different solvents such as methanol, ethanol, dimethyl sulfoxide and aqueous were used for extraction. Maximum in vitro inhibition was observed in methanol extracts of Euphorbia hirta L. which offered inhibition zone of 20 mm and zone of inhibition area of 471.00 mm² against S. …

Screening of Cold-Active Lipase from Psychotropic Fungi
Abstract: Lipase is a class of enzymes that catalyze as, hydrolysis of long-chain tri-glycoside and comprise the large significant group of bio-catalysts for biotechnological applications. Currently, the cold-active lipases (CLPS) are the enzyme of choice for pharmacists, organic chemists, biochemical, biophysicists and engineering processes, bio-technologists and micro-biologists as well as biochemists. The production of CLPs is mostly existed from psychrophilic microorganisms. Psychrophiles and psychrotrophs extracellular colds-active enzymes at low temperature (cold) …

The Predatory Bacteria, Bdellovibrio and Like Organisms (BALOs): An Emerging Savior for Human Welfare
Abstract: Bdellovibrio and like organisms (BALOs) are capable of killing other Gram negative pathogenic and non-pathogenic bacteria dwelling in a diverse environmental niches such as soil, freshwater and ocean. The predatory nature of BALOs can be a viable alternative to conventional use of antibiotics to treat ocular, periodontal, respiratory and fish pathogen infections since the incessant use develops resistance against them. Unique property such as potential to survive in ecologically hazardous …

Comparison of Nested PCR and Real Time PCR of Herpes Simplex Virus Infection in Encephalitis Cases
Abstract: Introduction: Herpes simplex virus (HSV) causes a wide spectrum of clinical manifestations in the central nervous system (CNS). Presently, the development of effective antiviral therapy has resulted in an increased need for the rapid and sensitive diagnosis of HSV infections. Aims: To evaluate the usefulness of real-time PCR for diagnosing HSV encephalitis (HSE), we prospectively compared results of real-time PCR and nested PCR, using clinical samples. Methods and Material: viral …

Decolorization of Diazo Dye Amido Black 10B by a Bacterium Kerstersia sp. Strain VKY1
Abstract: Amido Black 10B, a diazo dye having various industrial applications was decolorized by a bacterium Kerstersia sp. strain VKY1. The effect of various parameters such as dye concentration, pH, temperature and NaCl concentration was investigated. At 200 mg/l dye concentration, the strain decolorized 81% of the dye at temperature 35°C and pH 7.0 in 36 h of incubation. This strain decolorized the dye over a wide range of pH (5–11), …

Diagnostic Modalities Used for Fungal Isolates Confirmed in Clinically Suspected Cases of Otomycosis: A Screening Study
Abstract: Otomycosis is one of the most attending ailed in ENT practice. Fungal infection of external auditory canal is called otomycosis. Discomfort or pain, itching, ear blockage and ear discharge are symptoms of otomycosis. Ear discharge is seen in the cases of bacterial otitis externa (Furuncle or diffuse otitis externa), otomycosis, acute otitis media, chronic otitis media, etc. So to confirm diagnosis of otomycosis, microbiology test of ear discharge is needed. …

Partial Characterization of Crude Lipase from Mutant Soil Fungal Isolate
Abstract: Lipases are cluster of enzymes which cleaves oils and fats. Characterization properties oflipases have been studied in the present investigation because they play an imperative role inseveral industrial applications. The present lipase obtained from soil fungal strain named asEMS5%-60min exhibited optimum activity at pH 7.0 (24.90±0.25 IU/ml/min) and 37ºC (20.28±0.51IU/ml/min). In pH stability profile, the enzyme was found stable in alkaline pH range withhighest activity (13.08±0.07 IU/ml/min) at pH 9.0. …
