Comparison of Total Protein Content in the Muscles of Catla catla on Exposure to Ag and ZnO Nanoparticles and their Metal Ions
Abstract: Growing applications of nanotechnology necessitates understanding of nanotoxicity. The toxicity of nanoparticles has gained special attraction amongst various toxicological studies, but restricted data are available on its toxic effects on aquatic organisms. An attempt has been made in present investigation to determine toxicity of NPs of Ag and ZnO and their metal ions to major carp catla. Protein content in muscle tissues of the fingerlings varied with concentration of the …

Variation in Activity of Lipase Immobilized on Chitosan and Alginate Nanoparticles by Changing Concentration of the Preparatory Reagents
Abstract: Chitosan and alginate nanoparticles were prepared by ionic gelation method. The concentrations of each of the preparatory reagents (for chitosan: acetic acid, chitosan, sodium sulphate, glutaraldehyde and for alginate: calcium chloride, alginate, glutaraldehyde) were altered to check their consequences. Lipase was chemically crosslinked to these nanoparticles. Enzymatic assay was carried out for every alteration separately. To visualize the changes in each reagent at every step a precise table is incorporated …

Preliminary Phytochemical Analysis and Haemolytic Activity Assay of Tuber Extract of Ruellia tuberosa L.
Abstract: Presence of certain chemical compounds is responsible for medicinal properties of the plant. In the present study, the various biochemical tests were conducted to examine the presence of various phytochemicals in the methanolic, petroleum ether and chloroform tuber extracts of Ruellia tuberosa L. Also, the extracts were subjected to the in vitro haemolytic activity assay. The tests confirmed the presence of carbohydrates, alkaloids, tannins, terpenoids and flavanoids in all the …

Efficiency of Waste Banana Peels in Bio-ethanol Production
Abstract: Aim: To check the efficiency of waste banana peels in bio-ethanol production. Methods and Results: Waste from banana fruit peel powder is subjected to the simultaneous saccharification and fermentation process for 7–10 days of co-culture of Aspergillus niger and Saccharomyces cerevisiae and also with a co-culture of Bacillus subtilis and Saccharomyces cerevisiae, in two different batch processes. The extracted β-amylase enzyme from the biomass of Aspergillus niger is also used …

Morphometric Divergence of Garra mullya (Skyes, 1839) Populations from the Preferred River System of Southern Western Ghats Region, Tamil Nadu, India
Abstract: The present study aims to describe the phenotypic divergence of Garra mullya from the preferred river sites of Southern Western Ghats, Tamil Nadu, India. A total of 18 morphometric characters were analyzed within populations from different localities. The species-wise and population-wise descriptive statistics viz., minimum, maximum, mean, standard deviation, the coefficient of variation (CV) of all morphometric traits, the multivariate coefficient of variation (CVp) and the principle component analysis were …
