Phytochemical, Acute Toxicity and Heavy Metals Evaluation of Khaya senegalensis (Desr.) A. Juss (Meliaceae) Stem Bark
Abstract: The present work was aimed to determine the phytochemical constituents, median lethal dose (LD50) and levels of heavy metals in Khaya senegalensis stem bark obtained from Kano State, Nigeria. The preliminary phytochemical screening revealed the presence of steroids, terpenoids, alkaloids, anthraquinones, saponins, phenolic compounds and carbohydrates, while the LD50 of the aqueous stem bark extract was above 5000 mg/kg body weight using OECD and Lorke’s method. The heavy metals analysis …

Evaluation of Antiulcer Activity of Allamanda cathartica Aqueous Leaf Extract in Experimental Rat Models
Abstract: A peptic ulcer is an open sore that forms on an epithelial surface of the stomach. To decrease the incidence of relapses, side effects, drug interactions of the existing drugs, and to increase the use of available phytochemicals, this present study was aimed to evaluate the antiulcer activity of Allamanda cathartica using pyloric ligation induced gastric ulcer model and Aspirin-induced gastric ulcer model. In pyloric ligation induced gastric ulceration model, …

Antidiarrheal Activity of Leucaena Leucocephala in Castor Oil Induced Diarrhea in Albino Rats
Abstract: The purpose of the present study was to evaluate scientifically the anti-diarrheal effects of different extracts of leaves of Leucaena leucocephala. Different extracts of Leucaena leucocephala like petroleum ether, chloroform, and ethyl acetate were studied against castor oil induced diarrhea model in albino rats. The weight of the fecal matter induced by castor oil induced diarrhea was recorded as the chief parameter. Standard drug loperamide (1 mg/kg, i.p.) showed highly …
