Effect of Salt Stress on Physico-biochemical Responses in Brassica juncea L. cv. Pusa Jai kisan
Abstract: Salinity is one of the major abiotic stress factors which affect plant growth, development and productivity. The aim of the study was to assess the impact of salinity on physical and biochemical levels in Brassica juncea in three and five days after treatment. Plant seedlings were treated with twenty five, fifty, and hundred millimolar of sodium chloride along with control plant. Shoot length, root length, fresh weight and dry weight …

Genetic Diversity of Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) Germplasm
Abstract: The present investigation was conducted to examine the genetic diversity existing among 30 genotypes of wheat. The experimental design used was randomized block design having four replications. The study revealed wide range of variability and high heritability for all the traits. High estimates of genotypic coefficient of variation (GCV) and phenotypic coefficient of variation (PCV) were observed for number of tillers per plant and yield per plant. High heritability coupled …

Physico-Chemical Properties, Extraction and Characterization of Gluten from Different Indian Wheat Cultivars
Abstract: Four wheat (Triticum aestivum) cultivars PBW-343, WH-147, WH- 283 and RAJ- 3765 were evaluated for morphological and physico-chemical characteristics. Wheat cultivars were milled and gluten was extracted from obtained flour. Wet gluten yield, gluten index, dry gluten yield and moisture content of wet gluten and dry gluten were determined. The water and oil absorption capacity of gluten was determined. The wet gluten yield, gluten index and dry gluten yield was …

Ethylene in Post-harvest Quality Management of Horticultural Crops: A Review
Abstract: Ethylene is a naturally occurring plant hormone that is produced by many fruits and vegetables. It initiates the ripening process when internal concentrations increase to 0.1 to 1.0 ppm. Externally applied ethylene can also initiate the ripening process in climacteric fruits. Ethylene is flammable at a concentration of 3.1–32% in air. The minimum flammable concentration of 3.1% or 31,000 ppm is about 200 times the concentration suggested for tomato ripening. …
