A Rapid and Efficient Protocol of DNA Extraction from Animal Blood and Plant Parts
Abstract: DNA extraction from plant tissues is much more complex in comparison to mammalian tissues and bacterial cells due to the presence of a rigid cell wall. Methods utilized for extraction of DNA from plant tissues can vary depending upon the materials used. It is very essential to obtain the nuclear material (without degradation) by breaking down the cell wall and membrane mechanically. We have used the single protocol for extraction …

Production of Bioflocculants from Bacillus subtilis-2162 and Determination of Its Flocculating Activity on Heavy Metal Chromium
Abstract: The bioflocculant production potential of Bacillus subtilis-2162 was evaluated using standard methods. The bacteria produced an extracellular bioflocculant. Culture conditions for optimal production of the bioflocculants include: glucose and sucrose as carbon sources; multiple + 2 nitrogen sources including: ammonium sulfate and yeast extract; Ca+2 as sole cation source; and initial medium of pH 7. Characterization of the pure bioflocculants revealed that it is thermostable. Hydroxyl, carboxyl and amino groups …

Stem Cell Delivery Methods: Opportunities and Challenges
Abstract: There are many approaches to cell delivery, each with its own unique aspect and subtle pros and cons. Instead of solely looking at the objective results, the efficacy of these delivery systems should be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Optimal cell therapy depends on successful delivery into the area of need, engraftment of a sufficient concentration of cells and prolonged survival of the transplanted cells. While cells have been delivered …

Study on the Activity of Chitosan on Saccharomyces cerevisiae in Sodium Alginate Beads for Bioethanol Production from Mahula Flower
Abstract: In recent years, growing attention has been devoted to the conversion of biomass into ethanol, considered as the cleanest liquid fuel alternative to fossil fuels. Yeast cells under anaerobic conditions can be used to ferment glucose into ethanol. Many agro-industrial residues are excellent substrates for ethanol fermentation. The starter culture has a very important role to play as an intermediate to provide a desired inoculums size of viable cells for …

Methods for Removal of Rotenone from Brebra (Millettia ferruginea) Seed, Oil and Defatted Flour under Different Treatment Conditions
Abstract: The main objective was to develop and determine the rotenone removal methods from different samples of defatted flour and refined oil. To remove rotenone, ethanol, pH gradient treatment, cooking and roasting were used and rotenone was determined by HPLC analysis. Most of the rotenone (0.701%) from non-defatted flour is lost during defatting (0.37%) and refinery process of oil (0.02%). From raw seed, 84.1, 85.1 and 97.3% rotenone was removed by …
