Yield Gaps Among Hybrid Head Cabbage (Brassica oleraceae var. capitatal) Varieties
Abstract: An experiment was conducted to quantify the impacts of selected hybrid head cabbage (Brassica capitata var. L.) varieties on the yield and quality traits. Three hybrid head cabbage varieties; K-500, Landini and Bandung were tested. The experiment was laid out in Factorial Randomized Complete Block Design with three replications. Head weight, head diameter, marketable yield, total head yield and gross head yield at (P<0.05) were significantly affected by the variety. The …

Preparation of an Indicator Dye from Tender Coconut Husk and Analysis of its Stability
Abstract: India is eminent in its production and usage of tender coconuts. The aim of this paper was to develop a useful product from tender coconut waste. It focuses on the utilization of coconut husk to produce an indicator dye for the detection of the approximate pH of any solution. A concentrated dye was first prepared in aqueous form. When stored, it was stable and functional at room temperature as well …

Versatile Uses of Young Bamboo Shoots in India: An Appraisal
Abstract: Bamboos are popularly recognized as ‘Bio-Steel, ‘Green Gold’ or appropriately termed as ‘the poor man’s timber’ due to its availability, resourcefulness, and invariable uses. Bambusoid grasses are much talked about for their contribution to the environment. Nevertheless, the food potentiality of the bamboo shoots remained unexploited and investigations on their nutritional, pharmaceutical, and medicinal potentiality is also scarce. The present paper attempts to provide an assessment of its versatile properties, …

Phytochemical Analysis of Organic Compounds as an Indicator of Metal Uptake in Selected Plants
Abstract: Plants contain a number of potential chelating agents such as amino acids, organic acids, peptides, and proteins, etc. These chelating compounds are very important for the physiological processes in plants. In addition, these ligands are found in both hyperaccumulator and non-hyperaccumulator plants and play a vital role in metal uptake from contaminated soil. Many organic compounds have been found to bind and accumulate trace and toxic metals in hyperaccumulating plants. …
