Analysis of Genetic Basis for Morphological Variations in Normal and Tissue Cultured Plants of Andrographis paniculata in Association with or Without Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi using AFLP Markers
Abstract: Andrographis paniculata Nees, a member of Acanthaceae, is one of the important medicinal herbs. The active principle, Andrographolide esters has a paramount importance in pharmaceutics. Morphological variants have been reported both in natural populations collected from various geographical areas and micropropagated plants raised through tissue culture that need to be analyzed with proper molecular tools. In order to facilitate reasoned scientific decisions on its management, conservation and prepare for a …

Biodiversity Monitoring Study to Assess the Impact of a Comprehensive Organic Farming Practice namely Inhana Rational Farming (IRF) Technology on the Ecological Components of India’s Largest Organic Tea Estate of Barak Valley, Assam, India
Abstract: Biodiversity monitoring study was conducted in West Jalinga Tea Estate for the evaluation of the management impact on the different ecological components of the plantations viz. soil, water and bird diversity. The tea garden switched over to organic cultivation through the adoption of Inhana Rational Farming (IRF) Technology in 2001–02. Evaluation of soil quality components indicated improvement in soil health as compared to the conventional tea estates in the same …

Vermicomposting in Waste Management Using Technology for Future Enhancement
Abstract: The increase in population causes a rise within the amount and kind of urban and rural wastes.Such wastes are undesirable pollutants to the environment and time could even be a health menace. As far as rural wastes are concerned, there are enormous quantities of organic materials that are not utilized. “Vermicomposting technology” could be a quick growing one with its pollution free, value effective and economical nature & has been …

Genetic Diversity Studies of Eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) Genotypes
Abstract: Twenty-two genotypes of eggplant were evaluated to assess the genetic diversity within the genotypes at Horticulture Research Centre (HRC) field, Regional Agricultural Research Station (RARS), Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI), Jamalpur, Bangladesh during the winter season of 2013-2014. Genetic diversity among 22 eggplant genotypes was estimated using Mahalanobis’s D2 statistic. Altogether five clusters were formed. Cluster II enclosed the highest number of genotypes (6) and cluster IV contained the lowest …

Characterization of BARI Kola-1(Musa sp.)
Abstract: The study was carried out at the research field of the Horticulture Research Centre (HRC), Regional Agricultural Research Station (RARS), Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI), Jamalpur, Bangladesh during February 2012 to April 2013. BARI Kola-1 was used in the study. Musa cultivars (dessert bananas) are important crops in the humid tropics of Asia. This paper reports the extent of morphological characterization of the BARI Kola-1 maintained in the field-bank of …
