Composition, Structure and Status of Woody Plants Along Dilla Zuria Rivers, Southern Ethiopia
Abstract: AbstractDilla zuria vegetation is located in Southern Ethiopia where agroforestry is highly exercised. The objective of the present study was to generate reliable information of floristic composition, diversity, structure and status of woody plant species in Dilla Zuria vegetation. The reliable data was collected from 50 plots each of 400 m2 using systematic sampling method. The plant species were identified by comparing with the voucher specimens preserved at National Herbarium, …

In Vitro Studies on α-Amylase Inhibitory Activity of the Leaves of Peltophorum pterocarpum (DC.) Baker ex Heyne
Abstract: AbstractThe present investigation evaluates the in vitro anti-diabetic activity of ethanolic extract of leaves of Peltophorum pterocarpum by α- amylase enzyme inhibitory activity. Besides, this qualitative phytochemical analysis of the plant was carried out. Preliminary phytochemical screening of the extract revealed that the presence of different types of compounds including flavonoids and steroids. The α-amylase inhibitory activity of ethanolic extract showed concentration dependent manner. Hence, α-amylase enzyme inhibition may be …

Phenological Changes in the Chemical Content of Wild and Greenhouse-grown Hypericum pruinatum: Hypericins, Hyperforins and Phenolic Acids
Abstract: AbstractWe previously reported phenological changes in the content of several flavonoids in Hypericum pruinatum. In the present successive study, we investigated variation in the content of eight new compounds in different plant parts of the same species through its phenological cycle. Plant materials including greenhouse-grown and wild growing individuals were harvested at different stages of plant phenology and subjected to high performance liquid chromatography analyses after dissected into different plant …
