Pretreatment of Lignocellulosic Biomass for Bioethanol Production: A Brief Review
Abstract: AbstractNowadays, lignocellulosic materials have gained increased interest in research and special importance because of their reproducible and abundant nature. A large amount of lignocellulosic biomass can potentially be converted into different high value products including value added fine chemicals, bio-fuels, and cheap energy sources, enzyme production and microbial fermentation. It is chiefly composed of cellulose, a linear glucose polymer, hemicellulose, highly branched heteropolymer, and lignin, a very high molecular weight …

Evaluation of Some Botanicals in Controlling Grain Spawn Infecting Pathogens of Pleurotussajor-cajuSinger
Abstract: AbstractSeveral fungal pathogens attacks grain spawn of P. sajor-caju. Successful methods to control the infecting fungal pathogens in mushroom grain spawns are not presently known. Six different botanicals namely neem (Azadirachta indica), garlic (Allium sativum), datura (Datura stramonium), ginger (Zingiber officinalis), turmeric (Curcuma longa) and tulsi (Ocimum sanctum) were tested at 5 and 10 per cent concentrations to test their efficacy against mushroom and grain spawn infecting pathogens. The percent …

Harnessing Biogas from Cow(s) Flatulence
Abstract: AbstractIndia occupies almost 3% of the total geographic of the world, whereas it is the home to 18% world’s human population and 15% of the animal population, among them, the cattle population occupies around 11% of the total population of cattle in the world. The FAO estimates that 18% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions come from the livestock sector, in large part due to the methane emissions of livestock. …

Response of Cytokinins on In Vitro Shoot Multiplication of Rose cv. Frisco
Abstract: AbstractThis research was performed to investigate the response of cytokinins on in vitro shoot multiplication of rose cv. ‘Frisco’. The nodal segments were cultured on MS medium containing 2.0 and 10.0 mg L-1 of 6-benzylaminopurine (BA), 2.0 mg L-1 and 10.0 mg L-1 of thidiazuron (TDZ) and, 2.1 mg L-1 and 10.5 mg L-1 of meta-topolin (MT). Inclusion of BA and TDZ in the culture medium promoted multiplication of shoots …
