Effect of Aqueous Extracts of Different Plants on Life Cycle and Population Build up Parameters of House Fly, Musca domestica L. (Diptera: Muscidae)
Abstract: AbstractThe present study examined the use of plant extracts, viz., ginger (Zingiber officinale), turmeric (Curcuma longa), leaves of tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum), neem (Azadirachta indica), holy basil (Ocimum sanctum), jatropha (Jatropha podagrica) and turmeric (Curcuma longa) as oviposition stimulant/deterrent and larval growth promoter/inhibitor on the house fly (Musca domestica L.). The plant chemicals concentration was mixed in a larval media prepared by mixing wheat bran, dried milk and brewer’s yeast. C. …

Nitrogen Use Efficiency in Hexaploid Wheat: An Abridgement of Physiological and Biochemical Aspects
Abstract: AbstractWith the increase of agricultural food production worldwide it has been observed that there is seven times increase in the use of nitrogen fertilizers over the past decades. Therefore, the challenge for the next decades will be to accommodate the needs of the mushrooming world population by enhancing productivity of food grains, with no ill effect on environment. Efficient nitrogen fertilization is crucial for economic wheat production and protection of …

Importance of Compost Quality Towards Effective Organic Soil Management: A Case Study under FAO-CFC-TBI Project at Maud Tea Estate, Assam, India
Abstract: AbstractIn today’s agriculture, there has been a growing conviction that organic soil amendment is the best option available to restore and enhance soil potential towards restricting the continuous decline of productivity. The present study under FAO-CFC-TBI project at Maud Tea Estate was aimed to evaluate the role of compost quality towards effective soil management. On-farm compost was produced under biodynamic, vermi, indigenous and Novcom composting method using similar raw materials …

Empirical Analysis of Indian Rainfall and Rice Productivity
Abstract: AbstractThis paper presents an empirical analysis of the rice production in connection with rainfall for India. Four main parameters (area of sowing, nonmonsoon rainfall, monsoon rainfall & technological advancement) have been used for this empirical analysis. In the first model, simple relationship is developed using production & area with zero intercept. This model did not give any significant result (R2 = 0.368). In above model when we added a constant, …

Efficacy of Insecticides for Effective Pest Management in Cotton
Abstract: AbstractMain constraint in achieving high production of seed cotton is destruction inflicted by insect pests. Newer interactions of pesticides have upraised the hopes for improved management of feared pest worldwide. Therefore, an effort has been made to study the relative efficiency of novel collection of insecticides against bollworms in cotton crop. The consequences of cotton bollworm are well known to cause entire crop failures in several regions where farmers are …
