Determination of A More Efficient Method of Grafting Mangoes and Optimum Growth Environment for A Successful Graft Union
Abstract: AbstractMangoes (Mangifera indica) have traditionally been propagated through seeds but this process takes many years for trees to start bearing fruits (7–10 years). Grafting is used to shorten the juvenile period in which mangoes start bearing between as early as 1 to 3 years. Farmers believe that after grafting, grafted plants need to be placed in greenhouse for successful union of the graft and growth of the sprouts. Authors know …

Role of Fungicides in Food and Crop Health Security for Better Tomorrow
Abstract: AbstractFungicides are absolutely essential for prevention of plant diseases and improving crop yield, which is otherwise lost due to diseases. Their role has assumed importance where desirable host resistance against diseases is lacking. For many of the destructive diseases such as those caused by the members of oomycetes, against which effective host resistance is not available or when the host resistance is easily broken by new pathogen races, fungicides serve …

The Mechanism of Soil Salinity and Plant Response: An Update Review
Abstract: AbstractSalinity, the abiotic stress of soil is one of the major concerns for agriculture and sustainable development. It affects large terrestrial areas including arable land. That’s why agricultural productivity is reducing day by day. The main remedy lies within the development of salt tolerant crops. In this respect, coordinated and tissue-specific processes like osmotic tolerance, K+ accumulation in cytoplasm, Cl− tolerance, Na+ exclusion, tissue tolerance etc. throughout the life cycle …

Evaluation of Neem Leaf Extract against Anthracnose, Leaf Blight and Rust Diseases of Sorghum
Abstract: AbstractField experiments were conducted during Kharif 2005 and 2006 at Gobbur Wadi area of Afzalpur Taluk, Gulbarga district. Sorghum plants were randomly selected and the three concentrations (10, 20, and 30%) of Neem leaf extract (NLE) were sprayed at the successive periods of 15, 30 and 45 days, respectively and percent disease incidence was recorded. Among the three major foliar fungal diseases studied, rust was dominant (PDI 73.60) on 2005 …
