Effect of Maturity Days on Yield and Processing Quality of Potato Varieties
Abstract: ABSTRACTQuality attributes of potato tubers particularly size of tubers, dry matter, starch and sugar contents are the areas of major concern of potato growers as well as processors. Three Indian processing cultivars (Kufri Chipsona-1, Kufri Surya and Kufri Frysona) were evaluated for yield and processing quality at three maturity dates (90, 100 and 110 days). Highest French fry grade tubers (25.54 t/ha) and total tubers yield (40.69 t/ha) were recorded …

Effect of Sulphur and Zinc on Yield Quality and Nutrient uptake of Hybrid Rice in Sodic Soil
Abstract: ABSTRACTA field experiment was conducted to study the effect of sulphur and zinc on yield, quality and nutrient uptake by hybrid rice grown in sodic soil. Application of 40 kg S ha−1 recorded significantly high grain and straw yield, protein content and sulphur uptake. Similarly, positive response of hybrid rice to zinc application was also noticed significantly up to the zinc dose @ 10 kg ha−1. Increasing doses of sulphur …

Physiological Effects of Maize Crop under Altered Plant Populations and Soil Moisture Regimes
Abstract: ABSTRACTThe maize is major cultivated plant in the farming community in water scarce areas. Study was conducted at Coimbatore, India during the year 2010 with three soil moisture levels, 100% irrigation water (0.8 IW/CPE ratio), 75% irrigation water (0.6 IW/CPE ratio), 50% irrigation water (0.4 IW/CPE ratio) and three plant density levels, normal spacing (60x20 cm), narrow spacing (45X20 cm) and reduced narrow spacing (30x30 cm) levels. The reduction in …

Effect of Seaweed Extracts Mediated Changes on the Germination and Pigment Concentration of Cluster Bean (var. Pusa naubahar)
Abstract: ABSTRACTThe effect of crude extract from the brown seaweed Sargassum wightii and Ulva lactuca on the seed germination, growth and pigments feature of the legume plant cluster bean was studied. The findings of the present study reveal the seed germination, morphological parameter and pigment analysis. These results suggest that seaweed extracts induce stronger seed germination and growth parameters. Keywords: Seaweed extracts, cluster bean, seed germination
