Development of Mathematical Model for Tool Wear Rate Using 3-Level Response Surface Methodology
Abstract: Tool wear is the progressive loss of material from the surface of tool in the form of very small metallic particles. From decade tool wear rate was used as major criteria to predict the tool life. However, tool wear rate only measures principle wear, i.e., flank wear and face wear. In order to assesses the real damage to the tool and consider other tool wear like chip, notching, primary and …

Effect of Surface Texture on Pressure Distribution in Hydrodynamic Journal Bearing
Abstract: This paper presents an analysis of the pressure distribution of hydrodynamic journal bearing for different surface texture, velocity variation and load variation. The performance of journal bearing depends on speed, load carrying capacity, viscosity of oil and temperature condition. Therefore, the effects of these parameters on the performance of journal bearing, on the pressure distribution and on the load carrying capacity have been analyzed on the basis of number of …

Performance of Cr3C2-25(Ni-20Cr) and Ni-20Cr Coatings on T22 Boiler Tube Steel in Simulated Boiler Environment
Abstract: Corrosion of metals is a dangerous process, due to which there is loss of metal by the attack of corrosive agents. The high temperature corrosion causes fast material degradation which results in failure of components. Boiler tubes in the thermal power plants are subjected to corrosion due to high temperatures. Thermal spray coatings have been used to reduce the corrosion of boiler tubes. In this research paper an attempt has …

Performance of Ni3Al and TiO2 Coatings on T91 Boiler Tube Steel in Simulated Boiler Environment at 900°C
Abstract: Boiler steel tube corrosion in coal fired boiler is main subject during design and operation of thermal power plant and it leads to both direct and indirect loss of cost and energy, including losses due to plant shut down time and inefficiency of operation. One of the feasible solutions to solve out this problem is providing surface coating on boiler steel tube, which on one hand protects the tube from …

Sputter Deposition of Ni/Ti Thin Film and their Molecular Dynamics
Abstract: Ni/Ti multilayer fabricated using DC/RF magnetron sputtering technique. Multilayer of Ni/Ti is deposited by alternate deposition of nickel layer and titanium layer, followed by annealing at different temperatures. Annealing treatment is carried out to achieve NiTi SMA thin films. The annealing was accompanied by inter-diffusion, amorphization and precipitation of various intermetallic phases. Classical molecular dynamics simulations have been performed for the atomic diffusion during annealing of Ni/Ti multilayer using embedded …
