Applications of Shape Memory Alloys: A Review
Abstract: Shape memory alloys (SMAs) impart a potential application in a wide range in micro- and nano-industrial world. Classic properties such as free recovery or pseudo-elasticity still needed further specifications in smart materials or micro-actuators applications. Nowadays, a primary goal is achieved that these materials offer a price-competitive advantage compared to other functional materials design. Among all types of functional SMAs, NiTi-based SMA attracted much attention in the rapidly growing field …

Characterization of Fly-Ash and Cold Setting Resin Powder Compacts
Abstract: Industrial waste like fly-ash which is creating environmental problems, is mainly used as a building material due to its low cost and easy availability. But the main disadvantage of these bricks is its low strength. So, a lot of research is going on to increase the strength of these bricks. The present research work is carried out to develop a new systematic procedure to produce fly ash composite bricks which …

Design and Analysis of Water Based Core Technology for a Casting of Light Weight Alloys: Core Casting
Abstract: Casting of light weight alloys like Aluminium based on sand core are gaining importance in several industrial and automobile applications. For replacing the sand by the salt to make core for lightweight alloys has been under the research owing to its excellent mechanical properties coupled with easy removal without using any kind of chemicals. Addition of salt core used as core material can reduce the solid waste which is generally …

Morphological and Dielectric Relaxation Responses of Polymer Stabilized Ferroelectric Liquid Crystal Composite Films
Abstract: Polymer-stabilized ferroelectric liquid crystal (GH-PSFLC) composite films have been prepared by polymerization-induced phase separation (PIPS) process as a function of polymer concentration. Epoxy polymer was homogeneously dispersed into FLC host matrix to create fibril network in the composite films. Twisted fibril-like network was observed through polarizing optical microscope through transmission mode. Dielectric relaxation spectroscopy of these composites shows that real part of permittivity decreases with polymer concentration. Goldstone relaxation mode …
