Biogas: Usefulness, existing technology and major hurdles
Abstract: There is strong scientific evidence that the average temperature of the earth’s surface is rising and this may be attribute to increased concentration of carbon dioxide (CO2), and other greenhouse gases (GHGs) in the atmosphere as released by burning fossil fuels. One of the chief sources of greenhouse gases is burning of fossil fuels. Biogas from biomass appears to have potential as an alternative energy source, which is potentially rich …

Extent of Beneficiation of Tsopoli and Akuse Clay Deposits as Drilling Fluids Materials
Abstract: The need to source for a local material for the design of drilling fluid has necessitated the study of two smectite clay reserve deposits which are abundant in Ghana and have been the subject of study for many years for other engineering disciplines. A study of their degree and extent of beneficiation quantities has been carried out using standard rheological and filtration test as well as governing protocols while at …

Physicochemical Characterization of Niger crude for processing and transport
Abstract: Niger crude oil physic chemical properties which influence it processing and flow behavior was investigated in this study. The bulk characterization includes specific gravity, viscosity, pour point, freezing point, wax content, sulfur content, SARA fraction and the Colloidal Instability Index analyses. Results indicate that the crude oil is paraffinic, light and sweet with high wax content (24.8%).The rheological behavior studied from the viscosity variation show that it is very viscous …

Review of application of CFD methodologies used for methane enrichment of natural gas
Abstract: Methane is a major constituent of biogas which contains about 60 – 70% of total volume. For utilization of biogas as fuel, its calorific value is a limitation which can be improved by removing impurities such as CO2, H2S, and moisture. Various techniques are available for the removal of impurities. This paper aims to explore various methodologies in CFD which are used to simulate and find out the factors that …

Simulation and Optimization of Syngas Generation Process (GTL Stage I) using ASPEN Hysys
Abstract: The process of gas to liquid (GTL) conversion has been divided into three sections (section I: natural gas treatment and syngas production; section II: is Fischer Tropsch Synthesis sections (Main Reactors) and Stage III: Upgrading and treatment section). This work is mainly for Stage I. whereby Natural gas dehydration unit is simulated using Tri-ethylene Glycol to dehydrate the natural gas which includes (Free Water Knockout Drum (FWKD), Absorber and Distillation). Sweetening …
