Geopolymerization: A Review on Physico-chemical Factors Influence to the Reaction Process
Abstract: A geopolymer is one of materials belonging to an inorganic polymer group based on alumino-silicate structural networks. The material is a product of reactions among the activated alumino silicate resources and solutions of alkaline activators in various conditions. There have been many investigations conducted to produce geopolymer using different raw materials and methods. The chemical factors have a decisive role in the reaction process and the formation of the geopolymeric …

Engineering Novel Blue Emissive Thiazolidinedione (TD) Poly Lactic Acid (PLA) Composite Thin Films for Bioplastic Scintillation
Abstract: In this article, we demonstrate luminescent properties of PLA blended with new 3-[2-(4-methylphenyl)-2-oxoethyl]-5-(thiophen-2-ylmethylidene)-1, 3-thiazolidine-2, 4-dione and 3-[2-(4-chlorophenyl)-2-oxoethyl]-5-(thiophen-2-ylmethylidene)-1, 3-thiazolidine-2, 4-dione (TD). This paper mainly aims at the preparation of intercalated thin films of PLA and TD. The formation of matrix-dopant composite films was confirmed by FTIR, SEM, TGA, DSC and XRD characterizations. This work really stands out from our previous work as TD has been better recognized as drug material in …

Studies on Mechanical, Thermal, Physical Properties and Characterisation of PLA-EVA Blend with Microclay and Product Development
Abstract: PLA-EVA (70:30 wt. %) with microclay (1, 3, 5 wt. %) was also melt blended using Glycerol (1%) was used as compatibilizer in a twin screw compounding extruder. Then test specimens were prepared by an injection molding machine. Mechanical, thermal and physical properties were evaluated. As microclay content was increased, the tensile strength, elongation at break and tensile modulus were slightly decreased but higher than that of PLA-EVA (30 wt. …

Evaluation of Compatibility of Elastomeric Component of Master Cylinder with Brake Fluid
Abstract: Importance of proper functioning of braking system of any automobile is imperative for ensuring safe operation. Master cylinder is a heart of the brake system and rubber seals and cups are its vital parts. Specially processed and designed seals resist leakages and transformation due to temperature changes or reaction with the brake fluid. This paper presents the compatibility study conducted on two different rubber materials, NBR and SBR-EPDM (identified by …

Enhancement of Dielectric Properties of PVDF Composites with MWCNT and GCNF Fillers
Abstract: The paper discusses the role of multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) and graphitized carbon nanofibre (GCNF) in Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) composites prepared by melt mixing method. Analytical studies were carried out using X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) for understanding the role of fillers. Formation of β phase crystalline structure with a relative increase in β phase content is observed and is maximum at 5 wt.% of …

Eco-friendly Materials of Polymer Composites Based on Water Hyacinth Fibers/Roving
Abstract: Overgrowth of water hyacinths will cause difficulties for water traffic in the Mekong Delta and affect the growth of other aquatic species. The water hyacinth as a raw material available in nature has been applied in production of the composite materials. The water hyacinth trees were treated in NaOH solution for 2-12 hours with concentration in the range 2.5-15.0%. The morphology of the water hyacinth before and after treatment was …
