Development of Starch/Keratin/Chitosan Composite Material as a Substitute for Polystyrene in Food Packaging
Abstract: The increase in awareness of the environmental impact of non-biodegradable waste from food packaging, has seen manufacturers push towards initiating production of eco-friendly packaging materials. This research serves as a step forward in the direction of going green, through the development of a composite material from natural, biodegradable polymers, for use in production of packaging material for fast foods. The composite was prepared from starch and chitosan with chicken feather …

Dosimetric Aspects of Poly(ethylene- g - maleic anhydride)
Abstract: Electron spin resonance (ESR) spectroscopy is considered to be finger print technique to identify chemical structures of irradiated polymers. To prove this, ESR spectra of unirradiated and irradiated maleic anhydride grafted poly ethylene (MANPE)are recorded under different conditions. The ESR spectra show multiplehyperfine lines with latent structure corresponding to macro radicals . Radiation dose dependency on chemical structure of MANPE has been investigated by recording ESR spectra at various radiation …

Characterization of Glass/Jute Hybrid Fibre Reinforced Epoxy Composite for Axial Flow Fan Blade
Abstract: Traditionally axial flow fan blades were manufactured by using metal alloys, but with the increase in blade size the blades grew heavier resulting in more vibrations during its working. It is impossible to manufacture the metallic blades to close tolerances making it uneconomical. Due to this dimensional instability, the metallic impeller fan blades are instead fabricated with glass fiber reinforced plastics (GFRP). To reduce the after effects of GFRP blades …

Studies on Mechanical Properties of Ultra High Molecular Weight Poly Ethylene (UHMWPE)-Basalt Fiber Reinforced Hybrid Polymer Matrix Composites
Abstract: Composite materials have become a preferred material now days because of their strength and also they are light. An additional material can be produced by a combination of matrix and reinforcement. The connections also give the flexibility of the design, because many of them can be formed in complex shapes. The economic significance of composite materials is now illustrious. There is strong indication far and wide that this importance will …
