Synthesis of Polyorthanisidine by Interfacial Polymerization
Abstract: AbstractPolyorthoanisidine has been synthesized by interfacial polymerization method. O-anisidine has been used as a monomer, hydrochloric acid is used as a dopant and ammonium persulphate as an oxidiser. The solvent used for the study is chloroform, isopropanol, hexane and xylene. The polyorthoanisidine obtained is characterized for particle size analysis. It is observed as with xylene as a solvent the least particle size has been observed with Z average value of …

Effect of Softening Agents in the Thermal and Morphological Properties of Starch Based Bioplastics
Abstract: Plasticization of starch with 1,2,3-trihydroxy-propane (glycerol) as a softening agent (plasticiser) can replace the starch-starch bonds to starch-massive glycerol bonds, which offers stability, improved physicochemical and functional properties of starch. This study is an investigation on the thermal and morphological properties of bio plastic samples made of starch with varying plasticiser contents (8, 6.5, 5, 3.5 and 2 ml) and are evaluated by methods like thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning …

A Review on Sisal Fiber Reinforced Composite Materials and Effects of Various Factors on its Mechanical Properties
Abstract: AbstractIn the modern world of science and technology, there is current rising trend towards the augmentation of mechanical properties of composites by introducing different materials in many flexible ways to overcome the newly resurgent demands, especially in engineering practices. Many natural fibers like jute, sisal, bamboo, bagasse, hemp and banana find their application as a reinforcing component in composite materials due to their light weight, low cost, low density, biodegradability, …

Mechanical Properties of Tri Sustainable NBR/Cement Waste/Rice Husks Silica Blend
Abstract: AbstractThe accumulation of agricultural and industrial manufacturing waste is an important environmental problem of the most countries in which the means of recycling these waste are not available. Therefore, it is important to find sustainable green engineering applications for the integration of these wastes in the industry and be an environmental, economic and industrial competitor and alternative to materials existing now. Cement waste and rice husks silica were added as …

Theoretical Analysis of Volume/Weight Fraction of a Dual-Constituent Composite
Abstract: Conventional equations used in analysis of composite materials are modelled based on volume-averaging principle. The volume-averaging equations were re-evaluated to provide an alternative weight-averaging consideration as a result of the difficulty in practical determination of volume fraction of individual constituents of composite material, especially particulate composite. The equivalent weight-averaging equation analysis showed that density plays a significant determining factor in material selection of individual constituent; and composite density evaluated using …

Electrical Conductivity and Antibacterial Studies on Chemically Synthesized Poly (2-Methyl Aniline-co-2-Chloro Aniline)-Blend-Polyurethane
Abstract: AbstractElectrically conducting copolymer blend, poly (2-methyl aniline-co-2-chloro aniline)-blend-polyurethane has been synthesized chemically by oxidative polymerization technique using 0.3 M ammonium persulphate (APS) as oxidant, 0.1 M of the anionic surfactant, sodium lauryl sulphate and 1 M HCl as dopant. The formation of the copolymer blend has been confirmed by comparison with the spectral data obtained for the copolymer which was synthesized under the same conditions and characterized. The copolymer blend …
