Simulation and Experimental Studies on the Effect of Injection Moulding Parameters on Tensile Properties of ABS Thermoplastic Specimen
Abstract: AbstractThe injection moulding process is the most widely used method of manufacturing Engineering thermoplastics. Thermoplastic blends and composites are suitably replacing metals and ceramics in most circumstances. This trend is mainly due to the versatility and compatibility of the injection moulding process. However, the injection moulding conditions has a significant impact on the aesthetic and functional characteristics of the final product as the flow induces substantial variation in the properties …

Synthesis and Characterization of Emulsion Paint Binder from a Copolymer Composite of Dimethylol Urea/Polystyrene
Abstract: AbstractIn our desire to reduce formaldehyde emission from urea formaldehyde resin (UF), dimethylol urea (DMU) was synthesized. Liquid polystyrene (PS) obtained from waste PS material was copolymerized by blending with the DMU at varying concentrations (10–70%). Infrared spectra infers a reactive blending between DMU and PS, while some physical property tests carried out reveals reduction in moisture uptake, rigidity and further reduction in formaldehyde emission among the favorable changes in …

Thermal Conductivity of CNT-Deposited Carbon Fiber Epoxy Matrix Composites
Abstract: AbstractWe have recently developed nanostructured coupling agents designed to couple micron scale reinforcements to the composite matrix. Scanning electron microscopy and Raman spectroscopy show evidence of carbon nanotubes deposited onto the carbon fibers. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy provides evidence of a covalent link formed between the carbon nanotubes and the sizing on the carbon fibers. Laser flash analysis shows significant enhancement in thermal conductivity of composites fabricated with these modified fibers. …

Study of Mechanical Behaviour of Sal Wood Flour based Polypropylene Composites
Abstract: AbstractIn this paper mechanical parameters of polypropylene (PP) and SEBS up to 10 wt% of copolymer are investigated. The PP/SEBS blend with 10 wt% of copolymer is further modified up to 10, 15, 30 and 50 wt% of sal wood. The tensile properties such as modulus, strength, and impact strength are studeid. The effect of salt spray on these properties is also the part of study. The results were found …

Synthesis and Characterization of Ether Containing Tetraglycidyl Epoxy Reinforced with Amine Functionalized Graphene Oxide (F-Go) and It’s Nanocomposites
Abstract: AbstractTGDDE matrix material along with functionalized graphene oxide (F-GO) as reinforcement was used to develop a unique skeletally modified tetra functional epoxy nanocomposites. Amine functionalization of graphene oxide nanoparticles (F-GO) on its surface was achieved by grafting 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES) as coupling agent. The FT-IR spectrum revealed that the silane coupling agent was covalently bonded to the surface of graphene oxide nanoparticles, offering better dispersibility and compatibility with TGDDE epoxy matrix. …

Microwave Curing of Glass-Epoxy Composites Using Silica Based Moulds
Abstract: AbstractFor polymer composite product manufacture, curing of the fibre reinforced polymers (FRP) is a critical step in achieving desired mechanical properties. The conventional cure processes involve thermal curing in hot air ovens and autoclaves where the cure process is time and energy intensive. In this context, microwave curing is one of the most promising processing methods since it results in substantially reducing cure cycle time, energy requirements and operational costs …
