A research note on a study of motion characteristics of tension leg spar
Abstract: The present research note, reports a study on the dynamic motion analysis of a tension leg spar (TLS). In the research note the time domain analysis is done using USFOS*TM software for a tension leg spar supporting a ‘National Renewable Research Laboratory (NREL)’ 5MW wind turbine at an operating depth of 320m to determine the dynamic responses of tension leg spar subjected to sea state 11 (=15m and =16sec). Motion …

Finite Element Simulation Analysis of Concrete Arch dams: A Review
Abstract: The loads on the arch dam and the physical properties of materials of the dam and the bedrock are undefined, and can be designated with random variable. Due to the huge volume, the complex structure of the dam and excessive random variable, the static analysis of the dam is tough. The dam is a higher order statically unspecified structure, and the variation of the temperature obviously marks the stress and …

Risk Assessment and Operational Management of Offshore Structures: A Review
Abstract: AbstractDuring the past few years, reliability-based risk assessment and management processes have been initiated and applied in evaluating and maintaining the reliability of a worldwide infrastructure of offshore structure systems. These systems are characterized as a combination of structures, hardware/equipment, operating personnel, organizations, environments and the interfaces between these components. Contextual on current and future trends in development of comprehensive programs to help improve the quality and consistency of offshore …

Structural Optimisation of Offshore Wind turbine structures: A Review
Abstract: AbstractStructural optimization of offshore wind turbines is very tough task due to complexity of the problem. The present paper reviews offshore wind turbine structures, one of the more popular forms of renewable energy, including attractions and challenges of electric power generation through onshore and offshore resources. Offshore wind-power generation presents many engineering challenges including: limited guidelines available for analysis and design of foundation/support structures; inadequate logistics for construction/fabrication; and comparatively …
