A Comparative Study of Structure, Morphology and Optical Properties of CaAl2O4 Phosphors by Sol–Gel Method
Abstract: In this paper, monoclinic CaAl2O4 phosphor with different weight percentage of aluminium was synthesized by low temperature sol–gel method. The prepared samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, Fourier transform infra red (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and photoluminescence emission spectra (PL). The XRD analysis showed that CaAl2O4 have monoclinic structure. The average size of the particles lies between 88 and 109 nm. It was …

New Generation Nanocrystalline Silicon Carbide for Implants and Prostheses
Abstract: Nanocrystalline silicon carbide (SiC) is an aspirant material for artificial heart valves primarily due to its low weight, high strength, acute hardness, wear resistance, inertness (SiC does not react with biological fluids), and deterioration resistance. Oxide ceramic materials such as alumina (Al2O3) and zirconia (ZrO2) are often used for medical applications like implants and prostheses because of their terrific biocompatibility and high wear resistance. Unfortunately, oxide ceramics cannot be used …

Review on Theoretical Background, Fabrication Techniques, Methodologies and Applications of Microfluidic Devices and Nanofluidic Devices
Abstract: In recent past, microfluidics is an outstanding and inspiring research field due to the potential applications of microfluidic devices. Microfluidic laboratory-on-a-chip systems are successfully used in mechanical engineering and biomedical engineering due to low price and easy fabrication methods. The major fabrication methods of the microfluidic devices are imprinting, hot embossing, injection molding, soft lithography, laser photo ablation, X-ray lithography and sealing. Active capillary flow and passive capillary flow are …

Application of Atomic Force Microscopy for the Study of Lithium-Ion Batteries
Abstract: Development of advanced Lithium Ion Batteries (LIBs) represents a fast growing field of science and technology. However, many fundamental problems remained unresolved due to lack of understanding of surface/interface phenomenon of LIB on nanometer scale. Here, we review recent applications of atomic force microscopy to study three key aspects of lithium ion batteries namely solid electrolyte interface, ion transportation and dendrite growth. In situ AFM is an ideal tool for …

Compositional and Morphological Properties of Nickel and Manganese Doped ZnO Nano Thin Films Grown by Silar Method
Abstract: The composition and morphology of pristine, Ni, Mn and Ni and Mn doped ZnO are discussed in this paper. These ZnO thin film nanostructures were prepared by SILAR method. The deposition conditions have been optimized based on their structure and on the formation of smoothness, adherence and stoichiometry. The results of studies by EDS attached with, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), reveal the varieties of microstructural and morphological modifications feasible with …

Effect of CNTs on Mechanical Properties of Mg-CNT Nano Composites Synthesized Through Stir Casting
Abstract: Multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) reinforced magnesium (Mg) nano composites were synthesized using vacuum stir casting technique. Three different weight fractions of MWCNTs (0.33, 0.66, 0.99 wt%) are added with Mg melt and stirred at 450 rpm for 10 min to obtain homogeneous mixture and deposited in a metallic mould. The deposited composite is then extruded at 450oC with an extrusion ratio of 11.11. Samples are prepared from the extruded composite …

Structural and Magnetic Property Studies of Nanocrystalline Co0.8Zn0.2Fe2O4
Abstract: The synthesis of Co0.8Zn0.2Fe2O4 nanoparticles has been achieved by a simple thermal decomposition method from the inorganic precursor, Co0.8Zn0.2Fe2(cin)3(N2H4)4, which was obtained by a novel precipitation method from the corresponding metal salts, cinnamic acid and hydrazine hydrate. The precursor was characterised by hydrazine and metal analyses, infrared spectral analysis and thermo gravimetric analysis. The thermal decomposition of Co0.8Zn0.2Fe2(cin)3(N2H4)4 yielded Co0.8Zn0.2Fe2O4 nanoparticles, which were characterised for their size and structure using …
