‘Nano- A New Gambit joins the ongoing Battle against Cardiovascular Diseases’ I. Towards Nanocardiology
Abstract: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Despite numerous advances, cardiovascular diseases are on the rise and continue to record high mortality worldwide. Thus an effective prevention of this will demand new diagnostic and therapeutic measures aimed at early, subclinical disease phase. Today’s novel approaches are being more centered on the understanding of molecular basis of disease processes. At this requirement, the recent materialization of molecular imaging has set …

‘Nano- A New Gambit Joins the Ongoing Battle against Cardiovascular Diseases’ II. Opportunities in Cardiovascular Surgery
Abstract: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE With continuing developments and refinements, cardiovascular surgery has advanced to a vast extent. Minimally invasive surgery has come into vogue in many of the sectors of cardiovascular surgery. But this does not leave surgeons free from the day-to-day challenges which they still continue to face in the field, the most common being the unconventional physiological issues with cardiopulmonary bypass used in majority …

Nonlocal Torsional Vibration of Nanorods
Abstract: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE The present work deals with the torsional vibration of nanorods based on nonlocal elasticity theory. The nonlocal elasticity theory is incorporated into classical rod model to capture unique features of the nanorods under the continuum mechanics theory. The strong effect of the nonlocal scale has been obtained which leads to substantially different behaviors of nanorods from those of macroscopic rods. Nonlocal rod …

Synthesis of Nanocrystalline Bismuth Ferrite by Solution Combustion Synthesis Method
Abstract: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE The present paper describes a simple method of nanosized BiFeO3 by the solution combustion synthesis using bismuth and iron nitrates as oxidizers and the combination fuel of citric acid and ammonium nitrate, with fuel to oxidizer ratio (Ψ = 1) one. The average crystallite size of BiFeO3 nanoparticles was estimated from the full width half maximum of the X-ray diffraction peaks of …

Synthesis of Homogenous Colloidal Silver Nanoparticles
Abstract: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Silver nanoparticles have potential applications in various fields such as biology, medicine, electronics and optical components. Suitability for these applications depends on the size, shape and chemical composition of the nanoparticles. The method of synthesis plays an important role in determining many of these properties. In this study, the formation of silver nanoparticles has been studied via the chemical reduction of …
