Compact MIMO Antenna Array based on Koch Fractal Metamaterial for 5G Applications
Abstract: In this paper, a design of a printed MIMO antenna array for 5G applications is proposed based on low profile structure. Thus, the antenna element is designed as a printed mender monopole with a partial ground plane. The partial ground plane is proposed to realize bandwidth enhancements through etching rectangular slots in the antenna back panel. It is found that such antenna shows two frequency bands, S11<-10dB, from 3 GHz …

Wideband Voltage Doubling Detector with Improved Sensitivity
Abstract: The voltage doubling detector can be used to improve sensitivity in field strength meters, RF sniffers, Tuned Radio Frequency receivers and wireless power harvesting. To further boost the detector’s sensitivity, we utilize broadband transformers to efficiently transfer energy between antenna and detector. This paper presents three wideband transformers that can improve voltage sensitivity up to 6.5 times.

Hybridization of Photovoltaic Panels and Thermoelectric Generators: Energy Efficiency Improvement
Abstract: Heat removal from PV panels has been revealed as a feasible and operational solution to reduce the temperature of the panel and increase energy efficiency. In this paper, the use of a thermoelectric generator (TEG) attached to the photovoltaic panel is proposed. A set of Peltier cells has been designed, built, and coupled to the rear side of a PV panel to remove the heat flow generated at the PV …

A Novel Antenna Design based on a Single UC-PBG Layer of High Gain for Wireless Power Transfer
Abstract: In this study, a brand-new, highly effective antenna design is put forth to provide a directional radiation pattern with a small beam width for wireless power transfer. The proposed antenna is constructed from a cross-shaped patch of square holes. A favorable eclipse is paired with the antenna patch to provide circular polarization-symmetrical radiation. A symmetrical quadrature stare-shaped unit cell has a uniform compact photonic bandgap layer (UC-PBG) on top of …
