Control Technique for Back-to-Back Converter Using Single Pulse Width Modulation
Abstract: This paper presents design and implementation of an analog controller for boost rectification and inversion required in the back-to-back converter used in doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) based wind energy conversion systems (WECSs). Detailed design of components of back-to-back converter is explained. The hardware module of this back-to-back converter is fabricated in the departmental laboratory. Testing is carried out on single phase as well as three phase rectifier section and …

Direct Tuning Method for Optimization of PID and I-PD Parameters
Abstract: Existing work proposed a new and practical approach of tuning of a controller in a closed-loop process plant. The approach is a direct tuning method, termed as Extended Fictitious Reference Iterative Tuning (E-FRIT). Now, we propose to generate the reference model from the closed-loop data, where the order of the reference model is decided based on the process dynamics of the closed-loop data. That makes the model maximum possible fit …

Ziegler-Nichols Method for the Optimization of PPID Parameters
Abstract: Present work proposed the controller with only one gain to be tuned. This is known as the Pseudo-Proportional Integral Derivative (PPID) controller. The PPID controller is proposed with fixed value of KC. This KC is obtained by Ziegler-Nichols tuning method. The PPID is applied to damped pendulum model. Comparison of fixed PPID is done with the existing Recursive Least Square (RLS) estimator method. Keywords: PID, Ziegler-Nichols tuning method, automatic tuning, stability-->

Cost Effective Heart Monitoring System
Abstract: The design and development of a cost effective hearth monitoring system displays the ECG pattern of a human body along with the basic physiological parameters such as body temperature and pulse rate has been developed and reported in this paper. The system consists of surface electrodes and electronic device. The surface electrodes are planted on chest and right limb as surface leads, which picks very sensitive ECG signals and later …

Fetal Ultrasound Image Segmentation
Abstract: The thesis explains development of a time-efficient method for segmentation in fetal ultrasound images so as to recognize femur contour in fetal ultrasound images and refine its shape. The main objective of the project was to develop segmentation of womb and fetus using fetal ultrasound images. Ultrasound segmentation produces detailed visualization of the underlying anatomy of the fetus in real time which can also recognize dynamically varying structures of the …
