Suitability of Local Soil for Low Volume Road Construction: The Case Study of Niger Delta Region, Nigeria.
Abstract: This work describes the suitability of soils located in the Niger delta region of Nigeria for road construction. The soil classification tests as well as tests to determine the moisture-density relationship and shear strength tests were carried out in accordance with British Standards. Also, additional soil data in these localities were obtained from construction and consultancy firms. A total of eighty-three (83) soil data were collected and used for analysis. …

Prediction Of Compression Index For Lateritic Soil Using Transformed Variable
Abstract: The information on the compression index of a soil is vital in geotechnical design, but its determination is expensive and time consuming. Most models relating compression index and basic soil properties are usually based on soil types. This work seeks to develop a model relationship between compression index and basic soil properties for lateritic soils. Selective transformation method which involves testing some general functional forms, to choose the model that …

UNCERTAINTY OF PILE DESIGN CAPACITY IN GYPSEOUS SAND SOILS
Abstract: Uncertainty of the design is a problem comes out due to the alteration of the soil properties. Depended on the available geotechnical soil properties of Al Najaf city, a study program is prepared to investigate the effect of the alteration of some soil properties, such as unit weight and angle of internal friction, on the design bearing capacity of a bored pile. The soil of the city is suffering from …

TRANSFORMATION OF INHERITED ENGINEERING PROPERTIES OF SOIL DUE TO STUBBLE BURNING - A CASE STUDY
Abstract: Stubble Burning has put the state government as well as central government in deep thoughts. The smoke that emits from the farms comes in contact with the breeze to become smog that collectively moves southward affecting the entire belt of northern India including Delhi. Sometimes it becomes too difficult to breathe and public is forced to use breathing masks to avoid poisonous gas entering into their lungs. Research says inhaling …

REVIEW OF NANO MATERIALS FOR PREDICTING STRENGTH AND VOLUME CHANGE BEHAVIOUR OF EXPANSIVE SOILS
Abstract: Expansive soils are problematic to Civil Engineering by increase and decrease its volume due to movement of water in and out. This kind of soils is portrayed by its outrageous hardness while drying and with high swelling process on the wetting. Several researches during the past 20 years have proposed different nano materials for the soil stabilization approaches to counter the hazards present in the soils. This paper elaborates various …
