Design and Development of Duct System for Classroom Ventilation
Abstract: This paper presents the design, development, and performance evaluation of a duct-based ventilation system for efficient air circulation in enclosed spaces. The system delivers a steady airflow of 550 CFM using a circular inline fan integrated with galvanized sheet metal ducts to minimize pressure losses and ensure uniform distribution. Performance tests conducted under real environmental conditions measured ambient temperature, duct inlet and outlet temperature, and airflow rate. Results confirmed that …

Experimental and Numerical Assessment of Sustainable Machine Tool Design: A Life Cycle Perspective on Structural Optimization and Energy Performance
Abstract: Machine tools are high-mass, energy-intensive systems with long service lives, contributing significantly to the carbon footprint of manufacturing. Enhancing their sustainability requires integrated structural and energy optimization without compromising functionality, accuracy, or productivity. While sustainable design has been studied broadly, systematic reviews from an experimental and applied mechanics perspective remain limited. This paper reviews sustainable machine tool design through a life cycle lens, emphasizing mechanics-based strategies and assessment methods. Key …

Experimental Study on Microstructural Evolution and Tensile Properties of Robotic Pulse MIG Welded Steel
Abstract: Robotic pulse Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding has emerged as an advanced joining technique capable of producing superior weld quality through precise control of welding parameters. The present study evaluates the influence of welding parameters on the microstructural evolution and tensile properties of steel weldments fabricated using robotic pulse MIG welding and compares the results with conventional pulse MIG welding. Microstructural characterization was carried out using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) …

Uniform Beam Dynamics Under Exponentially Moving Load on Bi-paeametric Foundation with Time-dependent Boundary Effects
Abstract: This study investigates the problem of a uniform elastic beam subjected to exponentially varying moving load with time dependent boundary conditions. A complex structural dynamic problem that has very significant implications for various applications such as railway systems, bridge structures, industrial machinery will be addressed in this research. A damping term is built into the uniform beam model to give a more realistic picture of the structural behaviour, while the …

Monitoring the Structural Health of RC Beam Lap Splices using Wave Propagation and PZT Sensors
Abstract: This paper describes the use of piezoelectric sensors in a wave propagation-based Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) method to identify lap splices in steel reinforcing bars. Straight and lapped steel bars with lap lengths of 10° and 20° were used for the experiments. Lead Zirconate Titanate (PZT) transducers were employed, one of which served as an actuator to produce stress waves and the other as a sensor to record the signals …
