Evaluating Inflight Ice Protection Methods for Applications on Next Generation Aircraft
Abstract: This paper reviews the current aircraft ice protection methods with a view to gaining insight into their capabilities and limitations for applications on next generation aircraft. The next generation airframe systems are likely to be powered electrically through an intelligent electronic control and management system. There is therefore the need to take advantage of the current advancement in digital control and use of electricity as a means of powering essential …

Numerical Simulation of Low Reynolds Number Incompressible Flow over Two Side-by-Side Circular Cylinders
Abstract: A second-order accurate unstructured collocated implicit finite volume method based on the primitive-variable formulation is used to study the flow field around a pair of cylinders arranged in side-by-side configuration. Numerical simulations are carried out for long time on a high-resolution mesh to obtain the appropriate evolution of the overall flow field and vortex structure of the wakes. A wide range of gaps between the cylinders is considered over a …

Runway Automatic Management System of ATC for Air-craft Take-off and Landing
Abstract: The existing system of ATC uses a manual system where pilots of air-crafts have to manually contact ATC for requesting permissions for landing or take-off. Air-traffic controllers follow FAA handbook containing a set of rules by which they manage the runway clearance and grant permissions to pilots. But this manual system requires conversation between Air-traffic Controllers and pilots in specific linguistic style. Aviation history shows many accidents have occurred due …

Simulation and Performance based Comparison of GA-Fuzzy-ANN based Shunt Active Power Filter for Power Quality Improvement in High Frequency Aircraft System
Abstract: A novel improved artificial neural network control primarily based craft shunt filter has been projected during this paper. The shunt active power filter model has been improved using Genetic algorithmic program and fuzzy logic. Genetic algorithmic program has been accustomed realize the optimum value of filter inductor; whereas fuzzy logic controller has been utilized in voltage control loop of the filter. The advance within the control scheme using artificial neural …
