Properties and Recent Progress in Oxide-Based Thermoelectric Materials
Abstract: Advanced thermoelectric materials that can be used efficiently for energy conversion have received significant research interest for the last decade because of the mounting demand for sustainable and eco-friendly energy technologies. The main advantage of thermoelectric materials is their capability to directly convert the waste heat into electrical energy which makes them highly promising for the recovery of waste heat from industrial processes, automotive systems and power generation applications. Oxide-based …

Study of technical and economic assessment of solar-assisted and thermoelectric air-conditioning technologies
Abstract: This study presents an integrated technical and economic assessment of solar-assisted absorption and thermoelectric air-conditioning technologies for residential cooling applications. A comprehensive methodology combining mathematical modelling, experimental characterization of thermoelectric modules, numerical simulation, and economic optimization was developed to evaluate the performance of both cooling systems. The solar-assisted system employs single-effect LiBr–H₂O absorption chillers operating under water-cooled and air-cooled configurations, simulated using TRNSYS and Engineering Equation Solver (EES), while the …

A Ventilated Dual-Function Photonic–Phononic Metasurface for Simultaneous Passive Radiative Cooling and Low-Frequency Noise Mitigation in Building Envelopes: Conceptual Design and Computational Feasibility Analysis
Abstract: Acoustic metamaterials for sound insulation and photonic/radiative-cooling metamaterials for passive thermal management have each matured separately for building-envelope retrofit, but existing studies address ventilation, acoustic damping and radiative thermal control in isolation, and no reported unit-cell architecture co-designs all three within a single shared structure. This gap persists because materials that are acoustic absorptive are generally dense and structurally opaque, whereas materials that are highly solar-reflective are conventionally applied to …

Thermal Performance Enhancement Strategies for a Compact Solar PV-Powered Concentrating Water Heating System Through Integrated Collector Design
Abstract: Solar water heating systems have emerged as one of the most promising renewable energy technologies for reducing dependence on conventional fossil fuels and electricity-based water heating. However, the thermal performance of compact solar water heaters is often limited by inadequate solar absorption, poor heat transfer, and thermal losses within the collector assembly. This study presents a theoretical investigation of thermal performance enhancement strategies incorporated into a compact solar photovoltaic (PV)-powered …
