An insight into the production of bioethanol from the unused Ethiopian waste potatoes
Abstract: The study provides an insight into the production of bioethanol from the unused Ethiopian waste potatoes. A pretreatment process was carried out to convert the potato starch into fermentable sugar through acid hydrolysis. The experimental parameters investigated during the hydrolysis were the temperature, liquid-solid ratio, and treatment time. Optimal values for hydrolysis were determined by the Response Surface Methodology (RSM) using Central Composite Design (CCD). The total reduced sugar content …

DESIGN AND ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING OF SOFT CAPTURE DOCKING SYSTEM USING MR FLUID
Abstract: This paper emphasizes the development of Satellite docking system using Magnetorheological fluid. Docking is a mechanism where a space craft tends to adhere with another space craft or an international space station maneuvering on its own. Magnetorheological fluid is a smart material that is controllable using magnetic field. When a magnetic field is applied to Magnetorheological fluid its viscosity increases and becomes viscoelastic and the liquid state changes to solid …

Recording of the Surface-Driven Microfluidic Flow of Aqueous Working Liquids in PMMA Microfluidic Devices
Abstract: In this work, the pristine polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) microchannel surfaces are modified by the air dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma processing, nitrogen plasma treatment, Undoped diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating, and Si-doped DLC coating, to produce the PMMA microfluidic devices having inner walls of different surface wettability. Dyed water and dyed aqueous ethanol (90% dyed water, 10% ethanol) are the selected two aqueous working liquids. The video recording of each surface-driven microfluidic …

Sulfur recovery process simulation and optimization
Abstract: Objective of this work is to simulate the sulfur recovery process by using the latest version of Aspen HYSYS V10 simulation program. Sulfur recovery model used in the simulation program is Claus three stage process. A total recovery of 97.85% sufur was recovered from the rich acid gas feed. The effects of H2S/SO2 ratio, outlet sulfur dew point margin, catalytic stage temperature, CS2 and COS concentrations, role of catalyst, acid …
