Abstract

This paper presents the design and performance analysis of a Rectangular Half Mode Substrate Integrated Waveguide (HMSIW) antenna configuration to attain higher gain and multiband characteristics with the compact size. It is possible to produce multiband properties by placing variously shaped slots on the top of the patch and ground surface. To attain the necessary gain and multiband resonance characteristics, the type of the slot, dimension optimization, and position optimization are critical factors. To achieve ideal impedance matching, the location of the feed and size must be carefully selected. By placing optimally spaced cylindrical conducing vias into the substrate, the HMSIW structure can be developed. To achieve the necessary radiation characteristics, one triangular slot is added to the ground, one hexagonal and one circular slot with optimum dimensions are added to the top of the cavity. The results demonstrate that the suggested multiband antenna can function within the frequency range of 3.9 GHz to 8.2 GHz, with several resonance frequencies operating at their best at 4.4 GHz, 5.8 GHz, 6 GHz, and 7.9 GHz with optimum bandwidths. It is observed that the proposed antenna has a peak gain of 8.14dB.
