In the near future cognitive radio technology will be the efficient one in bandwidth utilization. It is a promising technology that enables a user to use both licensed and unlicensed spectrums. The licensed spectrum can be used depending on the channel assignment strategy of a particular wireless communication standard. But the unlicensed spectrum can be effectively used with a memorandum of agreement whenever it is idle. To predict the availability of the spectrum, the cognitive radio technology is proposed. In this paper two spectrum sensing techniques that are Energy Detection and Cyclostationary Feature Detection methods are used. The probability of primary detection and false detection are compared between these two detection methods.
