Abstract

The seismic analysis of underground water tanks is crucial for ensuring their structuralintegrity and performance during seismic events. This review paper focuses on the seismicanalysis of underground water tanks considering different fill conditions, utilizing theSTAAD.Pro software for analysis purposes. The significance of seismic analysis in undergroundwater tanks and highlights the importance of considering fill conditions during the analysis.Various fill conditions, such as empty, partially filled, and fully filled tanks, are investigated tounderstand their impact on the structural behavior of the tanks. The paper reviews andsynthesizes existing literature on seismic analysis methodologies applied to underground watertanks. It covers analytical and numerical approaches employed in previous studies, includingresponse spectrum analysis and time history analysis, to evaluate the seismic response of thesestructures. Moreover, the abstract presents the key factors influencing the seismic behavior ofunderground water tanks, such as tank geometry, soil-structure interaction, and seismic loadingcharacteristics. The effects of different types of backfill materials and their compaction levels onthe tank's seismic performance are also discussed. The review paper presents the findings andobservations from various studies, providing insights into the behavior and performance ofunderground water tanks under different seismic conditions. These insights contribute toimproving the design and retrofitting strategies for underground water tanks, enhancing theirresilience to seismic activities. Overall, this review paper offers a comprehensive analysis of theseismic behavior of underground water tanks considering fill conditions.
