Abstract

An The Purpose of this research is to study & analyze the existing structures of Factory shed which is almost 32 years old which is deteriorated and not in working from 20 years. Due to non-working condition of factory shed, steel truss and other structural parts are not maintained time to time as results the structural members are corroded and RCC members are deteriorated. Hence the existing column is retrofitted & truss is also strengthened without disturbing the structure, this study is to calculate the enhanced load carrying capacity of RCC column strengthened by composite jacketing of steel and RCC concrete. As the jacketing of 100 mm is done on all sides of RCC Column and the angle sections are provided at the corners of RCC column jacketing. The enhanced strength is contributed by the RCC jacketing and the edge angles provided with the jacketing, as the angle sections are also contributing to the axial load carrying capacity of RCC column as a consolidated one RCC column. From the above two mentioned conclusions, axial load carrying capacity of RCC column is contributed by the load carrying capacity of RCC column, Jacketing and angles provided at corner with steel strips. The scope of this study is calculating theoretical expression for computing the axial load carrying capacity of the RCC column by two methods, firstly by using knowledge factor and another by the NDT results obtained after executing the jacketing on RCC columns. The results obtained by evaluating the axial load carrying capacity of RCC column by knowledge factor is improved by 3.97 time the original capacity and by validating with NDT results is improved by 4.15 times the original capacity of RCC column.
