Abstract

The period 1996 to 2015, 7,056 disasters recorded worldwide. 1.35 million People killed by natural hazards over the past 20 years, more than half died in earthquakes. The poorest nations paid the highest price in terms of the numbers killed per disaster and per 1,300,000 populations. Earthquake load is major effect on buildings especially on sloping grounds. Earthquake zone-IV is twice times more dangerous compare with zone-III. In the present study, G+12 storey & (30m x 30m) size of RC symmetrical building analyzed on varying slope angles i.e. 50, 100 & 150 with and without the earthquake loads as well as Diaphragms. Floor to floor height and bays size was considered 3m & (6 x 6) m respectively. IS:1893‐2002 used for calculation of earthquake forces & STAAD.Pro software used for the earthquake analysis of structures. Models without earthquake loads & diaphragm systems compared with earthquake loads as well as diaphragm systems on the sloping ground. Buildings subjected to earthquake loads are more critical on the sloping ground compare with flat ground because of torsional effects. Diaphragm systems minimized those effects. Structure forces, moments & deflections minimized when using Diaphragm system in zone-IV. Torsional  forces are very minor in all members in all types of models. Keywords: Sloping Ground, Earthquake Loads, RC Building, Diaphragm, Horizontal Bracing.
