CO2 SAFETY ISSUES AND ITS USE AS A NATURAL REFRIGERANT IN REFRIGERATION

  1. Mohit Rana

Abstract

The atmosphere contains about 0.04% carbon dioxide, which is a naturally occurring chemical (400 ppm). The majority of living things make it while breathing, and plants absorb it. It is also created through a variety of industrial operations, most notably the burning of fossil fuels like coal, gas, or oil to produce electricity or power vehicles. In the modern era, CO2 refrigeration and heat pumping technologies are acknowledged as practical and environmentally friendly alternatives for a variety of applications, including commercial refrigeration, transportation refrigeration, vehicle air conditioning, domestic hot water heat pumps, and a few industrial applications. When compared to systems using other working fluids, CO2 refrigeration systems can be regarded as energy-efficient systems.
