Abstract

Air cooler system is commonly used in domestic applications throughout the world for cooling purposes. The primary objective of the air cooler is to bring down the temperature of the ambient air by adding cool water particles into the stream entering the confines space. This system is efficient to a certain extent where humidity is not an important factor. But when it is a necessary to maintain humidity at a comfortable level, dehumidification becomes a necessity. This study reports an experimental analysis to investigate dehumidification with the help of silicon beads in an air cooler system. The data used in performance analysis were obtained experimentally for silicon material. Optimum results were achieved by the experiment. It is observed that the silicon does perform the function of dehumidification and maintain the humidity at a comfort level.
