Abstract This paper presents the exergy analysis of single effect LiBr-Water absorption cooling system. The work is committed to the study, the evaluation and distribution of the destroyed exergy for each component constituting this kind of system. The thermodynamic models, derived using the first and second laws of thermodynamics, are employed in a computer program using the engineering equation solver (EES) software to perform the calculations. Influence of various operating temperature upon exergetic performance of the system have been evaluated. This analysis shows that most of exergy destruction in system occurs in the generator and absorber. This is due to the heat of mixing in the solution, which is not present in the pure fluids found in condenser and evaporator. Exergy destruction in pump and expansion valve is found lowest. Influence of operating temperature upon the exergetic efficiency of the system has been also evaluated.
