Abstract

In the present work effect of number of sheet for the same sheet thickness is conducted. Steel and aluminium alloy are used as a sheet material. The study is conducted using a finite element software ANSYS. Student version is used for the present work. Dimension of the sheet and bullet are taken from the literature. Parameter like velocity is also taken from the literature and value considered in the present work is 200 m/s. Study of deformation, stress generated and strain generated on the sheet is conducted. Bullet material considered is lead while sheet materials considered are steel and aluminium.Sheet made of steel is heaviest while sheet made of aluminium are lightest.Brass-aluminium assembly (case-8) shows minimum amount for total deformation generated. For Al-Al assembly maximum total deformation generated is found out of all the other cases.Conventional steel case (single sheet) shows maximum amount of equivalent stress generated out of all the other cases. It can be concluded that it is better to keep brass as an outer sheet and aluminum as an inner sheet.
