Abstract

To reduce the carbon emissions Renewable Energy sources are widely included into power generation. Now a days penetration of Renewable Energy Sources into gird is increased and it is a major concern for power engineers to maintain the power quality. Due to integration of Solar and Wind energy Systems in Grid, the power quality issues arise and grid may become weaker. Power grid integration of renewable energy sources is achieved through power electronic converters. These converters decouple the source from load without providing inertia. Due to this issue inertia of grid will decrease and blackout or cascading failures may occur. To maintain the stability of the grid, it is required to add synthetic inertia to the grid. In the presented work power quality issues are described. Literature review on power quality issues and its mitigation techniques has been covered. An attempt has been made to discuss about virtual inertia of Inverter during Grid Integration of Renewable Energy Sources. Inertia emulation and its control strategy has been proposed. To assure and maintain good quality of power at all the levels it is needed to develop an efficient technique to resolve the power quality issues. To improve the inertia of the system an efficient system is needed which can provide artificial inertia and system may become stable.
